Dave Swift passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 from pancreatic cancer that he battled the last year. He was instrumental and encouraged the formation of the Florida Keys Corvette Club from its start.
He was in charge of the membership area at the beginning and brought many enthusiasts to the club in the Keys and was a staunch supporter of the annual “Corvettes in Paradise” show.
He served in the United States Navy and was known to always fly the flag on his 1976 orange corvette and custom motorcycle which he built himself.
He could always be seen at the corvette show assisting Tony with parking duties and trusted no one but Tony to do any work on his vette.
He was also part owner, with his brother Steve, of blue Water printing on Cudjoe Key for many years and together they built a very successful print business. I had the privilege of working part time for them for many years until they sold the business.
Dave loved the Florida Keys until all the new changes begin and last year he relocated to North Carolina and built his own home there along with his wife, Joyce.
Dave will be sadly missed by all.
Rose update:
The cancer is back and Rose is under going chemo again leading up to a bone marrow transplant. She had chemo this past week and is home resting. She will be out of work for the next 6 months due to the heavy doses of chemo she will be undergoing. We will try to keep all updated on her progress.
